In 1937, Salem County, NJ, established its own branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), a nationwide organization founded in 1881 whose mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Today, AAUW engages 100,000+ members and donors, 1,000 branches and 500 college/university partners.

For more than 80 years, the AAUW Salem County, NJ Branch has been an important stakeholder in our community, providing thousands of dollars in grants, scholarships and sponsorships to advance the education, equity and welfare of women and girls in Salem County.
